The name

kansopace/ˈkɑːn.soʊ.peɪs/

Kanso (簡素) is the Japanese idea of simplicity: leaving out what does not matter. Space is the room you sit in. Put together, a third word appears in the middle: pace, your own calm rhythm.

Why it exists

A countdown on a blank screen makes focus feel like a test. We wanted the opposite: a place you look forward to sitting down in, where the lamp coming on is the signal to begin and the room grows a little every time you show up.

What Kansopace does

A desk by a wide window

You sit at a desk in a small 3D room and look around with your finger, all the way round. The window follows your clock from dawn to night, the weather turns from clear to rain or snow, and the trees change with the seasons. Sounds follow the hour and the weather: birds in the morning, rain on the glass, the city in the evening.

The lamp comes on when you focus

Tap Focus and the desk lamp lights up while the countdown runs on the laptop screen. Focus for 10 to 90 minutes and rest for 3 to 30. Lock your phone and the session keeps going: a Live Activity and the Dynamic Island on iPhone, an ongoing countdown notification on Android, and a quiet note when it ends.

A room that becomes yours

Swap the lamp, the clock, the laptop and the plant, hang a scroll, roll out a tatami, put a stove or an aquarium in the corner. A cat naps on the windowsill while you work and looks up when you tap it. Most slots start with two free pieces, and you arrange everything where you like.

Mon, earned by focusing

Mon is a small copper coin from Edo-era Japan, and here it adds up as you focus. You spend it on things for your room. Each paid item can also be unlocked once with real money. There are no subscriptions and no ads.

See where your time goes

Today, this week, this month or all time: your focus time, finished sessions and streak, a bar for every day and a split by subject. When the week went well, share a story-sized photo of your room with your focus time on it.

Notes on the cork board

Write a short note from the note button, or tap the notebook or the cork board while you focus. Up to three notes stay pinned on the board in washi, sakura, matcha and sora paper, right where you look while you work.

The identity behind Kansopace

Nothing in Kansopace’s look is decoration. Here is what the icon, each colour and each typeface stands for.

Icon

Kansopace app icon, large

An arched window with a desk lamp leaning over the desk, and a beam of amber light falling from it. The bottom of the window is filled in: that is the desk itself. Focus is the lamp being on, so the light is the only warm colour in the mark.

Colours

  • Shoji#14171C

The wall of the room with the lamp off. Every panel sits on it, day or night, so the interface never fights the scene.

  • Andon#F0B45E

The lamp's light, the only amber in the app. It appears only around focus: the Focus button and the running timer.

  • Ai#9FAEDB

Indigo, the colour of dusk. Everything about a break is drawn in it.

  • Koke#A9BC92

Moss. A finished session, always with a check mark next to it.

  • Sumi#E9E7DF

Ink on paper. Panels are shoji paper and text is ink, so reading never needs a bright screen.

Type

  • A quiet room for deep focus.M PLUS Rounded 1cTitles, buttons and the timer

Rounded and Japanese in origin, with equal-width digits so the countdown never shifts as seconds change.

  • Session done. Open the window for a minute.FigtreeBody text and captions

Clear and warm at small sizes, for short lines read at a glance.

Questions about Kansopace

Do I need an account?

No. Open Kansopace and start a session. Everything stays on your phone.

Is it free?

Yes. The room, the timer, the statistics and two pieces for most slots are free. You earn mon by focusing and spend it on more things for your room. Any paid item can also be unlocked once with real money. There are no subscriptions and no ads.

Does the timer keep running when I lock my phone or close the app?

Yes. The session is saved with its start time, so it continues where it left off. On iPhone you see it in a Live Activity and the Dynamic Island, on Android in an ongoing countdown notification, and you get a notification when it ends.

Does the weather come from where I live?

No. The window follows your phone's clock for the time of day and the calendar for the seasons. The weather changes on its own through the day, and you can pick the time of day and the weather yourself.

Can I move my room to a new phone?

Your data is part of your phone's own backup (Google backup on Android, iCloud on iPhone), so restoring a backup brings it back. Purchases can always be restored from the shop.

Which languages does it support?

English and Turkish.
