Name today's frog
Every morning Rana asks one question: what's today's frog? Pick the hardest thing you keep dodging. You can keep up to three tasks, but only one of them is the frog, and it always comes first.
rana/raˈna/
Rana is Latin for frog. It comes from the "eat the frog" idea: if your first job of the day is to eat a live frog, nothing worse can happen afterwards. The app keeps that frog in front of you.
To-do lists reward easy wins. We noticed whole days disappearing into small tasks while the one that really mattered waited. Rana is intentionally narrow. It doesn't try to manage your life, only to make sure the important thing gets done first.
Every morning Rana asks one question: what's today's frog? Pick the hardest thing you keep dodging. You can keep up to three tasks, but only one of them is the frog, and it always comes first.
Too big to start? Break the frog into up to ten small steps and tick them off while you work. The first one only needs ten minutes.
Start eating the frog and the screen locks in: you finish it or you give up, nothing in between. A clock counts your focus, the points unlock after one minute, and you hold ✓ to eat it.
A frog is worth 50 points, plus 25 if you eat it before noon. Points grow your frog through 20 stages, from egg to Apotheosis, and every day in a row adds a streak bonus of up to double.
Weekly, all-time and streak leaderboards show who keeps eating their frogs. Others only see the username you choose.
Every Sunday the Frog Journal sums up your week: frogs eaten, tasks done, focus time, points and why frogs got away. Share it as an image. Statistics and a monthly calendar show the longer story.
A morning call to pick your frog, a reminder while the before-noon bonus is still yours and an evening check when your streak is in danger. You choose which reminders you get.
Nothing in Rana’s look is decoration. Here is what the icon, each colour and each typeface stands for.
A single lily pad on the still green of a pond. In Rana every task is a frog sitting on a lily pad, and the pond is your day. The pad is where today's frog waits for you.
#A8E05FBright and a little cheeky, so the hardest task of the day never looks grim.
#4CAF50The green of the frog itself, and of every finished task.
#071A17Deep water under everything. A dark, living green instead of black, so the frogs stand out.
#173A33Cards and surfaces: the pads your tasks sit on.
#FFC93COnly for points, trophies and quests. Gold appears when you have earned something.
Soft, puffy letters with a sense of humour. They make a hard task feel like something you can face.
Rounded like DynaPuff, but quiet and open enough to read comfortably in lists and settings.

It is a productivity approach that asks you to do the most difficult or important task first, before lower-value work can take over your day.
Focus is the point. You can keep up to three open tasks and one frog at a time, with or without Pro. Finish one to add another.
A frog is worth 50 points, plus 25 if you eat it before noon. Other tasks are worth 10. Points count after at least one minute of focus and for your first three completions each day, and your streak adds 5% per day, up to double.
You lose no points. Rana asks why it got away, gives you a tip and lets you slice it into smaller steps and try again.
Your streak resets, but once a month a hibernation day saves one missed day for you. The pond also gets murkier the longer you go without eating a frog.
Frog costumes, colours, hair, moves and pond themes, plus deeper statistics such as the heatmap and consistency graph. It never adds more tasks, and levelling up unlocks some costumes for free.
Your tasks and progress are saved to your account and sync across your phones and iPad. You need a connection to add or finish tasks; reminders still arrive offline.
Other people see only the username you pick, or a masked version of your name, with your rank and points or streak. Your email is never shown.
